*Update* Apparently the tie rod broke on the truck causing it to lose control.

So my 2015 Taurus SHO was parked on the side of the street at a metered parking spot, and a truck ended up hitting 4 vehicles total. Mine seems to have taken the most damage. And fortunately nobody was in any of the vehicles at the time of the accident.

I’m a little said it might be totaled, but at the same time, I was a little upside down, have gap insurance and was about to trade it in on a new truck anyway.

I’m thinking about buying it back if it’s cheap enough, and maybe doing something ridiculous like making it into a 2 door Ute, or stripping it down and selling off the interior and body good panels and wheels (would be replacing with steelies or cheap mustang wheels) and making it into a drag car similar to Leroy, it’s already a decently quick car, but it’s wicked heavy.

Anyway, enough blabbering here are the photos of the accident, identifying info on truck was edited out because I wanted to.

So what happened. How’d the driver hit those other cars and look like it steered into yours.

Because that stretch of road looks straight and doesn’t look like there’s a lack of space as those lanes look pretty wide.

That’s m y thoughts as well...though buyback and part-out could be a good way to go if you can get it cheaper enough. SHOs seem to have a fair following?

I work in insurance, and that is definitely at risk for being totaled. Given the suspension damage i would walk away. You don’t want ro be making passes on a car with tweaked suspension mount points.

It’s not just damage to the driver side rear quarter panel, but some other chassis bending has happened given the trunk lid isn’t sitting right anymore. And the passenger side rear tire looks like it has been bent in... suggesting suspension damage.

And add in the front end damage and I would be very surprised if the insurance thinks it’s worth repairing.

I like the SHO, but... maybe use the gap insurance to get a CPO Chevy SS... maybe even a stinger... rather than a truck.

I don’t know if you need the truck... but it just makes good sense to replace a sports sedan with another.

I’d love to get an SS or maybe a hellcat charger, but I really do need a truck. Right now I use my SUV or borrow a truck, but I need one of my own. I’m leaning toward a Raptor, so I’d have a sport truck instead of car.

Yep! They gave it a 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost engine with 365HP. It is a quick giant boat of a car especially when I had it tuned.

Ok, you have one horsepower for every day of the week. I liked that gen of Fusion but it is a little too boaty for me and the build quality on my brothers previous gen Fusion was not encouraging. Comfortable, but poorly put together and his had the Stain O Matic seats that couldn't get wet.
